Making Consistent Judgements

The System Endorsed Moderation Process

Moderation is a process by which teachers compare their on-balance judgements of student achievement of outcomes and standards using system exemplars of student achievement and structured feedback from colleagues.  The moderation process is applied both within a school for internal consistency of judgements and between schools for system comparability of judgements.

The in-school moderation process helps teachers think and act on any adjustments they need to make in their teaching, assessment and judgement making process.  The between-school moderation process assists schools to think and act on any adjustments they need to make in their assessment and judgement making processes.

This approach enables our teachers to make valid and consistent reports on student achievement using explicit and evidence based processes.
